Casa al Forte

Located in the upper part of Portoferraio, in the residential area of San Rocco and just a few steps from Forte Inglese, this apartment enjoys a particularly convenient location for guests who wish to stay close to the town centre and the beaches while still enjoying a peaceful setting.
The Forte Inglese area is one of Portoferraio’s panoramic spots: slightly elevated above the harbour and the historic centre, it offers pleasant views of the sea and the town and is an excellent base for exploring both Portoferraio and the rest of Elba Island.
The historic centre and the harbour can be reached in just a few minutes by car, and also on foot with a pleasant walk through the upper part of town. The route naturally includes some uphill and downhill sections, which are typical of Portoferraio: walking down towards the centre is easy, while the return journey involves an uphill walk.
Some of the most beautiful beaches on Portoferraio’s northern coast, such as Le Ghiaie, Padulella, Capo Bianco and Sottobomba, can also be reached within just a few minutes.

To reach the apartment, you follow an uphill road leading to a parking area below the walls of Forte Inglese. A car is therefore recommended, especially for guests who would like to explore the island’s many beaches and villages easily, although the location also makes it possible to combine car journeys with walks into the centre of Portoferraio.

Outside, guests have access to a furnished area with a table, chairs and a parasol, perfect for relaxing outdoors, having breakfast or enjoying dinner on summer evenings, with a pleasant glimpse of the sea.
The apartment features a spacious living area with a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, a single bed that can also be used as a sofa, and an armchair bed suitable for an additional guest. The large double bedroom provides a comfortable sleeping area, while the windowed bathroom with shower completes the accommodation.
Facilities include a pod coffee machine and a traditional moka pot, a hairdryer and air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable stay even during the hottest days.
The apartment does not have a private parking space, but there are several areas nearby where free parking is normally available.

Access through the gate is shared with the neighbouring property: the neighbour only uses the first short section of the access path and then turns left along the side of the house to reach their separate entrance. The furnished outdoor area in front of the apartment is not used by the neighbour, although there is no physical barrier separating the two access routes.

The location is ideal for exploring the island: Portoferraio’s historic centre and harbour are around 5 minutes away by car and can also be reached on foot, keeping in mind the uphill walk on the way back. The beautiful beaches of Le Ghiaie, Padulella, Capo Bianco and Sottobomba are approximately 5–10 minutes away by car.

Procchio can be reached in around 15 minutes, Marina di Campo in 20 minutes, Porto Azzurro in about 20 minutes and Capoliveri in 25 minutes. Supermarkets, restaurants, bars and all the main services are also just a few minutes away by car.
Thanks to its central location, this apartment is an excellent base for combining days at the beach, nature excursions and visits to the charming villages of Elba Island, while still enjoying the peace and quiet of a residential area.
